About Horror Movie Season
Every year, as the nights get longer and the air turns cold, a certain kind of movie fan starts reaching for the scary stuff. Horror Movie Season is built for them.
The tradition
For a lot of horror fans, October isn't just a month — it's a ritual. The idea is simple: watch a horror movie every day on the run up to Halloween. Thirty-one days, thirty-one (or more) films, from the classics you've seen a dozen times to the obscure gems you've been meaning to get to. Some people call it a marathon. We call it the Horror Movie Season.
It started as an event between two friends. Every October we'd each take on the challenge and compare notes on what we watched — a friendly, shared run at the season all the way to the big night.
Why we built this
In the early years we tracked the whole thing in Google Sheets — a spreadsheet shared back and forth between us. It worked, but it was messy: every movie meant manually adding a row, hunting down the IMDb link, and keeping two copies roughly in sync. The bookkeeping kept getting in the way of the fun part.
Horror Movie Season is the app we wished we'd had: a real home for the season. Log what you watched and when, rate it, watch your streak climb, and unlock awards for the milestones and themed runs along the way — no spreadsheet wrangling required. Plan your season ahead with a watchlist, and log any movie you'd like to track, even if it's not in our database.
And because it started as something shared between friends, it's better together. You can keep a public profile to share your season, and discover what other horror fans are working through.
Who's behind it
Horror Movie Season is a labor of love made by Bombing Around. It's free, it has no ads, and it's built by people who genuinely just want a good excuse to watch more horror. If it helps you keep your streak alive this October, it's done its job.
